Video editing is one of the most intensive tasks a device can perform. Computers require decent specs, a lot of RAM, a lot of storage, and some expertise. A phone cannot replicate experiences like Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere Pro. Some apps, however, can handle the basics fairly well. Some pro vloggers even use it for vlogging. Below we have mentioned some of the best Android video editor apps.
Pricing: Free / $3.99
One of the most popular video editing apps for PC is ActionDirector. Android users can use it as well. It’s a basic app. Clips can be imported, edited, and rendered. Aside from adding your own music, trimming and cutting your video, adding text, and using slow motion, you can do more. There are only a few video editing apps that support 4K video. It will depend on whether your device supports it, however. There is a handy tool linked in the Google Play Store to check whether your app can run. The tool is updated frequently as well.
Pricing: Free / $50.99 per month
Premiere Rush is one of two Adobe video editors that are above average. The other is Adobe Premiere Clip, which is more like a standard mobile video editor. However, Adobe Premiere Rush is one of the newer video editing apps on the list, and it’s quite good. It has a lot of must-have features, like multi-track timelines, cloud syncing, and some advanced editing tools. Still, some UI work and bugs need to be fixed, but it has a lot of potentials. Additionally, it comes with the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, so if you already use that service, it’s worth a shot.
Pricing: Free / $7.99
Wondershare’s FilmoraGo is a video editor app. It’s easily one of the best. The app is packed with features. Trim, cutting, rendering, and other basics are possible. You can also play videos in reverse, do square videos (1:1) for Instagram, and 16:9 videos for YouTube. Other features include slow motion, music, overlays, and transitions. All in all, it’s not bad. You can buy additional features in-app. Most of the features are free.
The app is free to download with in-app purchases
Joe Hindy / Android Authority
The Funimate app is surprisingly popular, but it is not overly powerful. According to the app’s description, it’s great for making music videos or simple videos from the content already on your device. You can play with 15 video filters, and the creation process is fairly straightforward. You wouldn’t want to use this in a serious video. Video effects are included. As opposed to making videos, it’s better to do short little posts for social media. You can try it out for free if you’d like.
Pricing: Free / $2.99 per month / $9.99 per year / $29.99 once
With InShot, you can edit videos and add filters, trim videos, and shorten them. It features a timeline editor with multiple video and audio channels. Additionally, you can crop, select a music track, and do various other small things like fade in and out. With its toolset, sticker packs, speed controls, and other features, it is a great fit for YouTube, TikTok, and similar platforms. It is also very nice to have a single price tag along with its subscription if you decide to take that route.
Pricing: Free / $4.99 per month
KineMaster is one of the first and most powerful video editing apps available. Most of these video editors can do the basics. This one includes multiple video layers, images, and effects. Furthermore, there are audio filters, chroma-key (for those of you who love green screens), various video effects, transitions, and more. Obviously, it doesn’t have the power of a full desktop editor. However, it’s closer than most other competitors. If you are making videos for YouTube and other online services, we recommend this. You can try it for free for a while. However, to get everything forever, you’ll need the $4.99 per month subscription.
Cost: Free
Movie Maker Filmmaker is one of the best free video editors currently available. Trim, crop, and reorder video content as well as set focal points. In addition to video effects, you can also design your own custom filters, though that functionality isn’t very robust. Other basics, such as music, are also available. It’s had a few bugs since its major redesign, but it’s still one of the better video editing apps around. And it’s free.
Pricing: Free / $5.99
The best video editor app on this list is PowerDirector. It comes with a bunch of features, including quick editing tools, various effects, a collage maker, and slow-motion support. It uses the classic timeline editing method and the interface is relatively easy to use. Video editors should be more familiar with it. You can download and use it for free, but all the features cost extra. This is a video editor that works well on larger screens, such as Chromebooks and tablets.

Quik is an app from a newer generation of video editors. If you’re looking for something simple, it’s okay. The app allows you to upload up to 50 photos and videos. A short video is then generated from them after the app analyzes them. There are about two dozen video styles included in Quick, and you can reorder and customize the video before you export it. Adobe Premiere Clip or PowerDirector is far more powerful, but not everyone needs such a powerful program. And it’s free with no in-app purchases.
Pricing: Free / $3.99
Video editing apps such as VivaVideo are exceptionally popular. But in practice, it’s a very mid-range video editor. It’s ideal for short social media clips. With the app, you can load clips, edit and trim them, and then move on to the next segment. More than 200 video filters and effects are included, as well as text input and fast and slow motion. VivaVideo has a free version that includes a watermark and a time limit. The pro version eliminates these restrictions.
