    About Brave Browser

Brave Browser is a free and open-source web browser that was created by Brendan Eich, the co-founder of Mozilla and the creator of JavaScript. It was first released in 2016 and is available for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and iOS.

The browser is based on the Chromium open-source project, which means it uses the same underlying technology as Google Chrome. However, Brave Browser has a number of additional features that set it apart from other browsers.

One of the main features of Brave Browser is its privacy protection. The browser blocks ads and trackers by default, which can help to speed up your browsing experience and protect your privacy online. Additionally, Brave Browser includes a built-in ad blocker and tracking protection, which can help to prevent websites from tracking your online activity.

    History

Brave Software was established on May 28, 2015, by CEO Brendan Eich and CTO Brian Bondy. The first version of Brave with ad-blocking features was released by Brave Software on January 20, 2016, along with ambitions for an ad platform that respects privacy.

A pay-to-surf test version of the browser from Brave was published in June 2018. For the short-term purpose of testing this functionality, this version of Brave sent a detailed log of the user’s browsing activities to Brave and came preloaded with over 250 advertisements. Brave declared that other trials would come after.Later that month, Brave updated its desktop browser’s private-browsing feature to include Tor functionality.

    Features

    Brave Firewall VPN

A browser-based system-wide firewall and VPN for iOS is called Brave Firewall + VPN.The Guardian VPN is employed.

    Brave Search

After purchasing Tailcat, a search engine with a privacy focus from Cliqz, Brave developed its own search engine and made it available in beta form in March 2021.Users of the Brave browser in the US, Canada, the UK, France, and Germany can utilize Brave Search as their default search engine as of October 2021.

    Brave Wallet

There are no extensions needed for Brave Wallet, which is a native crypto wallet. It supports L2 chains and all EVM-compatible chains, including Polygon, xDai, and Avalanche. However, it is intended to expand Brave Wallet support to mobile devices. Currently, it is only available for desktop browsers. Additionally, non-fungible tokens can be kept in Brave Wallet.

    Privacy

On the user’s device, all user data is kept secure and is inaccessible to outside parties.Only the device’s owner can see the surfing data because it is not sent to Brave’s servers.Brave reportedly has the highest level of privacy among the tested browsers, according to a study examining browser privacy conducted by Professor Douglas J. Leith of the University of Dublin. No “identifiers allowing tracking of IP address over time, and no sharing of the details of webpages visited with backend servers” were used by Brave.

Brave utilizes fingerprint randomization, which changes the way the browser looks to websites over browser restart, to prevent browser fingerprinting, ensuring that its users cannot be periodically or individually identified or tracked.

    Brave Rewards

Since April 2019, users of the Brave browser have had the option to enroll in the Brave Rewards program, which allows users to accumulate BAT for a variety of uses in exchange for watching privacy-protecting advertisements.

By watching advertising that are presented as pop-up windows or notifications by the operating system of their computer or device, users can earn BAT. Users are matched with advertising campaigns based on inferences drawn from their browsing history; this local targeting involves no communication of personal information outside the browser.
